IB 00-94: NMFS Announces Workshop on Proposed Pollock Catch-Monitoring Standards for AFA Inshore Processors

October 17, 2000 - 2:00 p.m.

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Region, will present a workshop on proposed catch monitoring standards for American Fisheries Act (AFA) licensed inshore processors that take deliveries of pollock from the Bering Sea, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS. These standards would require that the AFA inshore processors develop and implement a Catch Monitoring and Control Plan to ensure that all catch delivered to the processor is accurately weighed and reported.

The proposed catch monitoring standards may be downloaded from the NMFS Alaska Region's American Fisheries Act page or may be obtained from the NMFS Alaska Region upon request.

The workshop is scheduled for November 16, 2000, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Nordby Center in Fishermen's Terminal, 1711 West Nickerson Street, Seattle, WA.
