IB 01-34: Corrections to the Emergency Rule for 2001 Steller Sea Lion Protection Measures and Harvest Specifications

March 22, 2001 - 4:20 p.m.

Notice of a fishery management action.

On March 20, 2001, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) published in the Federal Register corrections to the emergency interim rule implementing 2001 Steller sea lion protection measures and harvest specifications for the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area and Gulf of Alaska groundfish fisheries (66 FR 15656), according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS. The corrections include revisions to Table 21, which erroneously was not published in its entirety in the original emergency rule published January 22, 2001 (66 FR 7276). Table 21 includes all Steller sea lion protection sites and associated fishing restrictions for each site. Several other corrections to the Steller sea lion protection measures and the 2001 harvest specifications are included in the March 20 Federal Register notice.

This information bulletin only provides notice of a regulatory change. For the purposes of complying with the regulatory change, you are advised to see the actual text in the Code of Federal Regulations. Regulatory text, including Table 21, may be accessed through the Alaska Region NMFS home page.
