IB 01-48: NMFS Opens Directed Fishing for Species That Comprise the Shallow Water Species Fishery by Vessels Using Trawl Gear in the GOA

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for species that comprise the shallow-water species fishery by vessels using trawl gear in the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time, May 21, 2001, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully use the second seasonal apportionment of the 2001 halibut bycatch allowance specified for the trawl shallow-water species fishery in the GOA. Other closures remain in full force and effect.
