IB 06-101: NMFS Reallocates Pacific Cod from Vessels Using Trawl and Jig Gear to Vessels Using Hook-and-Line and Pot Gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is reallocating 12,833 metric tons (mt) of Pacific cod from vessels using trawl gear and 1,300 mt of Pacific cod from vessels using jig gear to vessels using pot gear and catcher processor vessels using hook-and-line gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area according to Robert D. Mecum, Acting Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to allow the 2006 total allowable catch of Pacific cod to be harvested and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(a)(7)(ii). This action does not imply any change in the status of the fisheries.
