IB 06-44: NMFS Announces an Economic Data Reporting Requirement

May 05, 2006 - 2:00 p.m.

Notice of a fishery management action.

An Economic Data Report (EDR) is required from any owner or leaseholder of a vessel or processing plant that harvested or processed crab in specified Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI) crab fisheries during calendar year 2005. The EDRs for 2005 will be required before any permits related to the BSAI Crab Rationalization Program may be issued for the 2006/07 crab fishing year, which begins on July 1, 2006.

For the 2005 annual EDR, current regulations at 50 CFR part 680 require that the 2005 annual EDR be submitted by May 1; however, National Marine Fisheries Service published a proposed rule (see 71 FR 25808, May 2, 2006) that would establish a new deadline of June 28. This new deadline would be effective upon final rule publication.

The 2005 annual EDR packages were mailed in April to vessel owners and Registered Crab Receivers of record. If you did not receive an EDR package, one can be mailed to you (at no cost), or you may download an electronic copy in fillable PDF format. To request a printed EDR be mailed to you, please call 1-877-741-8913, or email your request to alaska_crab@psmfc.org.

Please specify in your request which form(s) you wish to receive (Catcher Vessel, Catcher Processor, Stationary Floating Crab Processor, or Shoreside Processor). The EDR form can be downloaded from the Recordkeeping and Reporting page.

Once completed, please mail the EDR to:
