IB 06-60: NMFS Opens Directed Fishing for Pacific Cod by Vessels Using Trawl Gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for Pacific cod by vessels using trawl gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI) effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time, July 19, 2006, according to Robert D. Mecum, Acting Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to utilize the remaining amount of the 2006 halibut bycatch allowance specified for the trawl Pacific cod fishery category in the BSAI. Other closures remain in full force and effect.
