The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for pelagic shelf rockfish in Central Regulatory Area (Statistical Areas 620 and 630, between 147 degrees and 159 degrees W. longitudes) of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) at 1200 hrs, Alaska local time, October 2, 2006, according to Robert D. Mecum, Acting Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.
This action is necessary to fully use the 2006 total allowable catch of pelagic shelf rockfish specified for the Central Regulatory Area of the GOA.
