The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for Pacific ocean perch and pelagic shelf rockfish in the Western Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA), effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time, August 1, 2007, according to Robert D. Mecum, Acting Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.
This action is necessary to fully use the 2007 total allowable catch of Pacific ocean perch and pelagic shelf rockfish in the Western Regulatory Area of the GOA. Other closures remain in full force and effect.
