IB 07-88: NMFS Prohibits Directed Fishing for Atka Mackerel with Gears Other Than Jig in the Eastern Aleutian District and the Bering Sea Subarea in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is prohibiting directed fishing for Atka mackerel with gears other than jig in the Eastern Aleutian District and the Bering Sea subarea in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI), effective 12 noon, Alaska local time (A.l.t.), September 11, 2007, though 12 noon, A.l.t., December 31, 2007, according to Robert D. Mecum, Acting Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 2007 total allowable catch of Atka mackerel with gears other than jig in the Eastern Aleutian District and Bering Sea subarea in the BSAI and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(d)(1)(iii).

After the effective date of this closure the maximum retainable amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.
