IB 25-16: NMFS Opens Directed Fishing for Pacific Cod by American Fisheries Act Trawl Catcher/Processors in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

Notice of a Fishery Management Action

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for Pacific cod by American Fisheries Act trawl catcher/processors in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI) at 12 noon, Alaska local time, April 9, 2025, according to Jonathan M. Kurland, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS. 

This action is necessary to fully use the 2025 total allowable catch of Pacific cod allocated to the American Fisheries Act trawl catcher/processors in the BSAI and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.25(a)(1)(i), (a)(2)(i)(C), and (a)(2)(iii)(D).

This information bulletin only provides notice of a fishery management action. For the purposes of complying with any requirements of this action, you are advised to see the actual text of the action in the Federal Register.
