The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is prohibiting directed fishing for pollock in Statistical Area 630 (between 147 degrees and 154 degrees W. longitudes) in the Gulf of Alaska, effective 12 noon, Alaska local time, April 21, 2025, according to Jonathan M. Kurland, Regional Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS. NMFS first alerted fishery participants on April 11, 2025 that the A season allowance of the total allowable catch (TAC) would be reached on April 13, 2025.
This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 2025 TAC of pollock in this area and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(d)(1)(iii).
While this closure is effective the maximum retainable amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.
