IB 99-66: NMFS Prohibits Directed Fishing for Northern Rockfish in the Central Regulatory Area of the GOA

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is prohibiting directed fishing for northern rockfish in the Central Regulatory Area (Statistical Areas 620 and 630, between 147 degrees and 159 degrees W. longitudes) of the Gulf of Alaska, effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time, July 19, 1999, according to Steven Pennoyer, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 1999 total allowable catch of northern rockfish for this area and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(d)(1)(iii).`

After the effective date of this closure, maximum retainable bycatch amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.

This information bulletin provides notice that a regulatory change has occurred. Do not rely upon it to guide you in complying with the new regulatory change.
