As part of the development of Amendment 59, the NOAA Fisheries Southeast Regional Office is hosting a series of in-person public hearings in South Carolina and North Carolina on February 5th and 6th. NOAA Fisheries will review Amendment 59 and the proposed management options for South Atlantic red snapper and other federal water snapper-grouper species. The structure of the public hearings allows for several presentations on the amendment and proposed rule. The same presentation will be given at 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm, allowing public hearing participants multiple options on when to attend the hearing. After presentations, there will be separate breakout rooms for the public to ask questions, obtain more information on Amendment 59 and the proposed rule, and provide public comments to NOAA Fisheries.
The public hearings will be held at the following times and locations. More public hearings are scheduled to be held in Florida and Georgia, and NOAA Fisheries will send out reminders in advance of those hearings.
