Cathy Coon

Cathy joined NOAA in July 2023. She brings with her a passion for ocean sustainability.  She served within the Department of Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) as both an advisor on science & policy with an emphasis on Arctic issues and as branch chief for the Alaska Environmental Sciences Program. Prior to Federal service worked for the North Pacific Fishery Management Council on Essential Fish Habitat issues. Cathy has a degree in biology from the University of Arizona and a masters degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences.
