Jason Morson

Fisheries Biologist

Jason earned a B.S. in Marine Sciences from Rider University, a M.S. in Biology from Hofstra University, and a PhD in Ecology and Evolution from Rutgers University. While employed by Rutgers University from 2007-2024, Jason worked with the fishing community to address important research questions related to stock assessment and fisheries management. This included fishery-independent survey design, bycatch reduction, stock assessment, and impacts of offshore wind development on fish and fisheries.  Jason joined the NEFSC Cooperative Research Branch in 2024 where he continues to work in close collaboration with the fishing industry to understand life history and population dynamics of fish and shellfish to inform sustainable management of fisheries in the region.
