Julien Lartigue is Acting Deputy Director for the Alaska Fisheries Science Center. Julien was first introduced to NOAA as a Sea Grant Knauss policy fellow in 2003. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas’s Marine Science Institute, he joined NOAA’s Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research as its congressional relations division director from 2005 to 2008. He then returned to the Gulf Coast as a science coordinator with NOAA’s Cooperative Institute Program before helping NOAA stand up the RESTORE Science Program that he now directs. Julien has a BA in Biology from Swarthmore College and holds a PhD in Marine Sciences from the University of South Alabama.
