Katie Luxa

Biologist

Katie (she/her) is a Biologist with the Alaska Ecosystems Program of the Marine Mammal Laboratory (MML). Her primary research focuses on the diets of Steller sea lions (Eumetopias jubatus) and northern fur seals (Callorhinus ursinus) in Alaska. She also manages MML’s laboratory spaces and serves as the field lead on the annual Steller sea lion aerial survey. Katie received her undergraduate degree in Marine Science from the Southampton College of Long Island University and her Master’s degree from Western Washington University. She has worked at the Alaska Fisheries Science Center since 2008.
