Kristina Thorpe
Kristina serves as both the Communications and Tasker Specialist, and the Lead for Northeast Fisheries Operations within the Fisheries Monitoring and Research Division (FMRD) at the Northeast Fisheries Science Center.
In her communications role, she coordinates high level projects across divisions at the Science Center, oversees Division-wide initiatives, supports strategic coordination across FMRD branches and leads stakeholder engagement efforts. Kristina also manages and completes taskers on behalf of the Division, ensuring timely and accurate communication with agency leadership, partners, and regional stakeholders.
As the Lead for Northeast Fisheries Operations, Kristina brings specialized knowledge of commercial fisheries throughout the Northeast region. She provides oversight of fisheries monitoring efforts along the coast, monitors contractual deliverables, and advises FMRD leadership on emerging gear types and new or expanding fisheries in the region. Her expertise ensures the Division remains responsive to shifts in commercial fishing practices and evolving monitoring needs.
