Seth Sykora-Bodie
Seth is a conservation scientist, geographer, and political scientist with a Ph.D. from Duke University, where his research broadly revolved around conservation planning, environmental decision-making, and international environmental governance, and his dissertation focused on global efforts to establish a network of marine protected areas in Antarctica. Prior to Duke, Seth was a 2014 Knauss Fellow and contractor in the Office of Protected Resources, coordinated a sea turtle conservation project for the World Wildlife Fund, and worked on climate policy and urban river restoration for the U.S. Department of the Interior, and as a park ranger in the Caribbean. Seth is a National Geographic Explorer, has traveled to all seven continents, lived abroad in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, and in his spare time enjoys playing soccer, beach volleyball, sailing, skiing, diving, horseback riding, and reading. He also holds two Masters’ degrees in Public Policy and Sustainable Development, and Conservation Biology from the University of Maryland, and completed his undergraduate degrees in political science, geography, and French at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
