Acoustic Research Associate - Affiliate

Shannon is a part of the Acoustics lab at the NOAA Southeast Fisheries Science Center through the Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) located at the University of Miami. Her work currently focuses on the acoustic analysis of marine mammals in the North Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico, including the abundance and seasonal distribution of the North Atlantic Right Whale. Shannon also works on the offshore field survey team conducting acoustic surveys in the Gulf of Mexico, and small boat work throughout the southeast North Atlantic. 


Shannon has a Bachelors of Science degree in Marine Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and a Masters of Science degree with Distinction in Marine Vertebrate Ecology and Conservation from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom.
