Endangered Species Recovery Coordinator

Susan is a fishery biologist with the NOAA Fisheries West Coast Region and currently serves as the black abalone recovery coordinator. In this role, Susan collaborates with many partners throughout the coast to monitor, protect, and restore this endangered marine snail. This includes participating in rocky intertidal surveys! Susan also works on species status reviews, scientific research and enhancement permits, consultations with Federal agencies, and sturgeon bycatch studies. She enjoys building partnerships and mentoring student interns who are seeking experience in endangered species conservation. Susan received a B.S in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Masters in Aquatic and Fishery Sciences from the University of Washington. She currently works in our Long Beach, California office.
