Thomas Swiader

Fisheries Biologist (NOAA Affiliate)

An avid outdoorsman from the South Shore of Massachusetts, Thomas Swiader, Jr. has always possessed a profound respect for the fisheries and ocean conservation efforts. After completing his degree in Wildlife and Conservation Biology at the University of Rhode Island, Thomas served as a Biological Port Sampler and a Dock Side Monitor for several years in ports spanning from Point Judith, Rhode Island to Portland, Maine.

Thomas joined the Cooperative Research Team in the Spring of 2021 as a Fisheries Biologist for the Shortfin Squid Electronic Size Monitoring Pilot Project. He looks forward to working with his team and others to develop technology and standardizing sampling protocols that will enable industry partners to efficiently collect quantitative biological and environmental data. In his spare time, Thomas can be found angling on his boat in local ponds and rivers, honing his golf skills and getting lost in nature.
