Whale watching season is back! Join our information session to find out how you can provide amazing experiences for your customers while protecting humpback whales in Hawaiʻi.
The session will help tour operators better understand the guidelines and laws that protect humpback whales and other marine wildlife. The session will also cover how to keep whales safe, and you can help us respond to emergencies like entanglements.
Meet the Panelists:
- Adam Kurtz is a Marine Wildlife Management Coordinator for NOAA Fisheries in the Pacific Islands Regional Office. He will discuss the laws and regulations that protect humpback whales and other marine wildlife, as well as guidelines to help you follow the law.
- Ed Lyman is the Regional Large Whale Entanglement Response Coordinator with the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary. He will talk about the vital role tour operators and other boaters play in entanglement response and protecting humpback whales from vessel strikes.
