Looking to plan out your year and get to know the incredible wildlife across the Pacific Islands? NOAA Fisheries is thrilled to share our 2023 Share the Shore and Sea Calendar! The calendar features youth art showing how we can all share the shore with marine wildlife across American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and Hawai‘i. Each month features winning art from our 2022 Share the Shore & Sea Youth Art Contest for K–12 students.

Help Us Spread the Word About Marine Wildlife Viewing Etiquette

With your help, we can all work together to share the shore and sea in 2023! Learn about our marine life viewing guidelines and let others know about respectful viewing distances for marine life in the Pacific Islands region:

  • Whales: 100 yards*
  • Dolphins/Small Whales: 50 yards*
  • Hawaiian Monk Seals: 50 feet
  • Sea Turtles: 10 feet
  • Corals: No touching or standing on

*Required by law for humpback whales (100 yards) and spinner dolphins (50 yards) in Hawai‘i.
