A $19,317 Notice of Violation and Assessment was issued to a New Jersey vessel owner and captain for concealing 300 pounds of scallops during a dockside boarding.
A multi-day, vessel patrol was conducted in the New York/New Jersey area. Enforcement of marine mammal harassment, right whale speed restricted area and recreational fishing regulations was performed. Six boardings were conducted. Two Bluefin tuna violations were discovered.
Alaska
A Special Agent received information from the Alaska Wildlife Troopers in reference to an individual subsistence halibut fishing in closed waters. The investigation revealed an expired subsistence halibut registration card (SHRC) and halibut retained from the closed waters. A $200 summary settlement was issued.
