Pacific Islands
- Enforcement Officers on patrol near Kahe power plant in Waianae on Oahu conducted an educational outreach to several fishermen fishing in the area. The officers talked about legal methods of fishing while ESA Hawaiian Monk Seals were swimming in the area. A NOAA Marine Mammal Biologist had reported that local fishermen were interacting with the seal resting in the area.
Southeast
- A Key West Enforcement Officer issued the captain of a recreational vessel a summary settlement in the amount of $275.00 for possession of Grey Triggerfish in federal waters during the seasonal closure.
Alaska
- Enforcement Officers conducted a fisheries and MMPA patrol in Yakutat, AK. 10 boardings of charter, recreational, and commercial vessels occurred. An investigation regarding the illegal take of Steller sea lions was conducted after three were found shot during the month of May. Yakutat Police Department assisted with the investigation.
