Distribution
The marine waters extending from the shores of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Territory of the Virgin Islands, to the outer limits of the U.S. fishery conservation zone.
Gear Description
Wooden, plastic, or metal traps are used by commercial fisherman. A buoy is either attached to each trap or a string of traps are set along a trap line with each end of the line marked with a buoy. Traps are weighted with cement and have a degradable escape panel.
Management
This fishery is managed under the Caribbean Spiny Lobster Fishery Management Plan under the Caribbean Fishery Management Council and the NOAA Fisheries.
