The National Observer Program Annual Report provides an overview of the observer program nationally and includes information on regional accomplishments and budgets for the 2017 fiscal year.
The National Observer Program supports observer programs and increases their effectiveness in meeting the overall goals of NOAA Fisheries through improvements in data collection, observer training, and integration of observer data with other research. In FY 2017 (October 1, 2016–September 30, 2017), 966 observers provided 73,453 days of fishery observations.
