Biological Opinion - Gustavus Ferry Terminal Development in Gustavus, Alaska

Endangered Species Act Section 7 Biological Opinion on the Gustavus Ferry Terminal Development in Gustavus, Alaska including issuance of Incidental Harassment Authorization to the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities.

For the actions described in this document, the action agencies are the Office of Protected Resources Permits and Conservation Division, which proposes to permit Marine Mammal Protection Act Level B take of Steller sea lions and humpback whales in conjunction with construction activities at the Gustavus Ferry Terminal, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), which proposes to fund this project. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being carried out by the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) pursuant to 23 U.S.C. § 326 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated September 18, 2015 and executed by FHWA and ADOT&PF. The consulting agency for this proposal is NOAA Fisheries' Alaska Regional Office Protected Resources Division (PRD). This document represents PRD biological opinion on the effects of this proposal on endangered and threatened species and designated critical habitat for those species.
