Biological Opinion - Sun’aq Tribe Dock Project in Kodiak Inner Harbor

October 08, 2018

Endangered Species Act Section 7(a)(2) Biological Opinion Sun’aq Tribe Dock Project in Kodiak Inner Harbor, POA-1977-242. NMFS Consultation Number: AKRO-2018-00052.

In this document, the action agency is the US Army Corps of Engineers, which proposes to authorize rebuilding the Sun’aq Tribe’s dock in Kodiak’s Inner Harbor, replacing the dilapidated current dock. We anticipate a second federal action agency for this project when the Sun’aq Tribe applies to the NMFS Office of Protected Resources, Permits and Conservation Division, for authorization of incidental take of marine mammals under the Marine Mammal Protection Act  once the project receives an expected grant. The consulting agency for this proposal is NMFS’s Alaska Region. This document represents NMFS’s biological opinion on the effects of this proposal on endangered and threatened species and designated critical habitat.
