Economic and Social Characteristics of the Hawaii Small Boat Fishery 2021

The information in this study provides an important update on the economic and social characteristics of the fishery and will allow fishery managers to make timely and better-informed decisions by having the best scientific information available.

This report presents an updated empirical description of the economic and social characteristics of the Hawaiʻi small boat fishery using results from the cost-earnings survey of the fleet conducted in 2021. 

The Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center of NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service uses the NOAA Technical Memorandum NMFS-PIFSC series to disseminate scientific and technical information that has been scientifically reviewed and edited.
