Endangered Species Act 5-Year Review Caribbean Monk Seal (Monachus tropicalis)

This 5-year review is a periodic analysis of the Caribbean monk seal’s status to ensure that the listing classification as threatened or endangered on the List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants is accurate.
This review was prepared pursuant to section 4(c)(2) of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and in accordance with sections 4(a) and (b) of the ESA following guidance provided in the joint NOAA Fisheries and U.S. Fish and Wildlife 5-Year Review Guidance and template. NOAA Fisheries initiated a 5-year review of the Caribbean monk seal (Monachus tropicalis) in November 2006.
