This annotated outline is meant to serve as an interim guidance document to direct recovery efforts, including recovery planning, for the Main Hawaiian Islands insular false killer whale (Pseudorca crassidens) distinct population segment (DPS), listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act, until a full recovery plan is developed and approved. A recovery outline is not subject to formal review and is not a regulatory document. This annotated outline is intended primarily for internal use by the NOAA Fisheries as a pre-planning document and the recommendations and statements found herein are non-binding and intended to guide actions. Nothing in this outline should be considered a requirement for any governmental agency or member of the public. Any new information or comments that members of the public offers as a result of this annotated recovery outline will be taken into consideration during the recovery planning process.
