This document describes the technical details of the Marine Recreational Information Program (MRIP) surveys designed and administered by the Office of Science and Technology, as well as the methods the program uses to produce estimates of total recreational catch. It includes information about current and legacy survey designs, anticipated survey improvements, and the calibration methodologies that have allowed us to preserve the integrity of our long-term time series of recreational catch statistics while implementing changes to survey designs. As the program evolves, this report may be updated.
