Steller Watch

December 17, 2018

Help us find out why the endangered Steller sea lion continues to decline in the Aleutian Islands.

Discover new information about the endangered Steller sea lion by reviewing pictures captured from the remote western Aleutian Islands, Alaska. This is where 94 percent of the Steller sea lion population has vanished in the last 30 years, with no clear answers why. To recover the species, scientists are tracking individually-marked animals throughout their lives. One tool to look for these marked animals is using automated cameras that take pictures year-round. Help us classify images and help save the population.
