Black Sea Bass Pot Pilot Project Exempted Fishing Permit Application
The National Marine Fisheries Service received an application for an EFP from Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant: A Pilot Project to Modernize Pot Fishing for the Black Sea Bass (BSB) Fishery Using Acoustic Subsea Buoy Retrieval Systems
The project involves the testing of Acoustic Subsea Buoy Retrieval Systems in the black sea bass pot fishery in federal waters of the South Atlantic. If granted, the EFP would allow the deployment of modified black sea bass pots in the federal waters of the South Atlantic. The project seeks to examine the potential usefulness of these gears in the BSB pot fishery while minimizing impacts to protected species.
