Adjustment of Commercial Large Coastal Shark Retention Limit in the Atlantic
The retention limit for the commercial aggregated large coastal shark (LCS) and hammerhead shark management groups in the Atlantic region has been increased to 55 LCS other than sandbar sharks per vessel per trip. The adjustment is effective beginning June 19, 2020.
This action affects Shark Directed limited access permit holders. The species that can be retained at the adjusted limit are:
- Blacktip (Atlantic region only)
- Great hammerhead
- Smooth hammerhead
- Scalloped hammerhead
The retention limit will remain at 55 LCS other than sandbar sharks per vessel per trip in the Atlantic region through the rest of the 2020 fishing season unless we announce another adjustment or fishery closure in the Federal Register.
