Summary

NOAA Fisheries announces a public meeting of the Permanent Advisory Committee (PAC) to advise the U.S. Commissioners to the Commission for the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean (WCPFC) on March 18, 2021. The meeting will allow PAC members the opportunity to provide input to the U.S. Commissioners to the WCPFC regarding the deliberations and decisions of the Commission. The PAC was established under the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Convention Implementation Act— and is composed of individuals from groups concerned with the fisheries covered by the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Convention.

The meeting of the PAC will be held via a web meeting on March 18, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time (or until business is concluded). The purpose of the conference call is to discuss outcomes of the 2020 regular session of the WCPFC (WCPFC17), U.S. priorities leading up to the 2021 regular session of the WCPFC (WCPFC18), and potential management measures for tropical tunas and other issues of interest.

Members of the public may submit written comments on meeting topics or materials; comments must be received by March 13, 2021. Documents to be considered by the PAC will be sent out via email in advance of the conference call. Please submit contact information to Emily Reynolds (via telephone or email, see below for contact information) at least 3 days in advance of the call to receive documents via email.

For further information on how to call in to the conference line or to submit comments, please contact Emily Reynolds at (808) 725-5039 or email emily.reynolds@noaa.gov. The conference call is accessible to people with disabilities. Sign language interpreting services are available upon request.
