Summary

On June 11, 2021, NOAA Fisheries issued an interim final rule establishing a framework process to implement short-notice Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) decisions. NOAA Fisheries is now issuing a final rule on this action.

The final rule responds to comments solicited on the interim final rule, and will be effective on July 7, 2022.

This framework process is important because it enables NOAA Fisheries to quickly implement short-notice WCPFC decisions regarding the conservation and management of highly migratory fish stocks.
