Incidental Take Permit to Virginia Electric and Power Company, D.B.A. Dominion Virginia Power

Dominion Chesterfield Power Station in Chester, VA is a coal-fueled power generating facility. The requested permit is for the incidental take of ESA-listed Atlantic sturgeon (Acipenser oxyrinchus oxyrinchus) from the Chesapeake Bay Distinct Population Segment (DPS). The takes would be attributed to otherwise lawful activities associated with the continued operation and maintenance of the facility including entrainment and impingement sampling required by the Clean Water Act. The permit is issued for a duration of 5 years.

Additionally, we received a request from Virginia Electric and Power Company, D.B.A. Dominion Virginia Power for modification of an incidental take permit, pursuant to the ESA for activities associated with the otherwise lawful continued operation and maintenance of the Dominion Chesterfield Power Station in Chesterfield, VA. We are publishing this notice to inform the public that we are considering re-issuing the permit, with modifications, to authorize additional take of Atlantic sturgeon from the Chesapeake Bay DPS.
