Summary

NOAA Fisheries proposes specifications for the 2023 Atlantic spiny dogfish fishery, as recommended by the Mid-Atlantic and New England Fishery Management Councils. These proposed specifications would decrease the 2023 coastwide commercial quota by 59 percent compared to fishing year 2022, based on recent declining trends in stock biomass and productivity. No changes are proposed to any other fishery measures, such as per-trip possession limits. For more information, see the proposed rule, as published in the Federal Register.
