Summary

On December 3, 2014, NOAA Fisheries published a proposal to designate critical habitat for the Arctic subspecies (Phoca hispida hispida) of the ringed seal (Phoca hispida) under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). NOAA Fisheries is withdrawing that proposed rule, which was a draft version that was published inadvertently, and is issuing a new proposed rule (79 FR 73010) with a new 90-day comment period to propose designating one specific area of marine habitat in the northern Bering, Chukchi, and Beaufort seas.

Comment period extended in February 2015 to March 31, 2015.
