NOAA Fisheries announces notice of an inseason action taken by the International Pacific Halibut Commission (IPHC) on May 2, 2019. The IPHC news release established vessel limits for the June 26 and July 10, 2019, Pacific halibut directed commercial fishery openings, and noted that the fishery would not open June 27, 2019.
NOAA Fisheries published IPHC’s inseason action in the Federal Register to provide additional notice of its effectiveness, and to inform fishery participants of the restrictions and requirements established in the inseason action. The NOAA Fisheries halibut hotline at (800) 662-9825 has the most up-to-date information for both the commercial (directed and incidental) Area 2A fisheries.
Any discrepancies between this Public Notice and the Federal Register will be resolved in favor of the Federal Register.
