This action affects federally permitted vessels fishing for blueline tilefish in the GARFO Tilefish Management Unit (north of the Virginia/North Carolina border). This reduction is required by regulation because the blueline tilefish commercial fishery has reached or exceeded 70 percent of the 2025 total allowable landings (TAL) of 20,894 lbs. The commercial fishery will be closed when 100 percent of the TAL has been landed.
2025 Blueline Tilefish Possession Limit Change

Effective July 11, 2025, the blueline tilefish commercial per-trip possession limit is reduced to 300 lb per day for the remainder of the 2025 fishing year, through December 31, 2025.
