IB 00-54: NMFS Opens Three Rockfish Fisheries for Non-Exempt AFA Catcher Vessels in Central and Eastern GOA

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening the directed fishery for Pacific ocean perch and northern rockfish in the Central Regulatory Area and Pacific ocean perch in the Eastern Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska for vessels that are non-exempt under the American Fisheries Act (AFA). This opening is effective at 12 noon, Alaska local time, July 4, 2000, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to allow non-exempt AFA catcher vessels to participate in these directed fisheries consistent with regulations implementing the AFA. Other closures remain in full force and effect.
