IB 05-20: NMFS Issues an Inseason Adjustment Opening Directed Fishing for Pollock in Statistical Area 630 of the Gulf of Alaska for 12 Hours

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) issues an inseason adjustment opening directed fishing for pollock in Statistical Area 630 (between 147 degrees and 154 degrees W. longitudes) of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) for 12 hours effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time (A.l.t.), March 10, 2005, until 2400 hrs, A.l.t., March 10, 2005, at which time directed fishing for pollock will be prohibited, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This adjustment is necessary to allow the fishing industry opportunity to harvest pollock without exceeding the B season allowance of the 2005 total allowable catch of pollock specified for Statistical Area 630 of the GOA. This action is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(d)(1)(iii), 50 CFR 679.25(a)(1)(i) and 50 CFR 679.25(a)(2)(i)(A) and (C).

After the effective date of this closure the maximum retainable amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.
