Background

Ben Sandford has worked as a mathematical statistician for more than 30 years. He joined NWFSC in 1988. Ben received a B.S. in mathematics from Central Washington University in 1986 and M.S. in statistics from Oregon State University in 1988.

Current Research

As a mathematical statistician, Ben provides statistical support for a number of projects including juvenile survival studies, Idaho wild Chinook salmon migration study, fall Chinook salmon at Lower Granite Dam and Estuary PIT-trawl and various PIT tag summaries. He provides help with experimental design, sample sizes, summarizes data from large databases, and conducts statistical tests on results.
