Bridget St. Amand

After studying the effects of plastic monomers on zebrafish development for her thesis, Bridget was inspired to pursue work in fisheries science. Since then she has followed her passion and explored different avenues of fisheries, from aquaculture to educating the public about fisheries and natural resources. Bridget worked in various capacities in the observer program for 10 years, bridging the gap between the industry and science while striving to improve the working conditions for observers. Feeling the call of the ocean, Bridget moved into ESB’s Bottom Trawl Survey program in PEMAD’s Ecosystems Survey Branch to support the critical data collection that occurs each spring and fall.
