Charles L. Dunlap

Technology Integration Support Specialist (Affiliate)

Charles is a native of Hudson, NY in the Hudson Valley/Capital District region of New York State.  He graduated from SUNY Cortland with a BS in Biological Sciences with an emphasis on marine wildlife. After a 2 year stint at home working with people with disabilities, Charles traveled west and worked as a Fisheries Observer for the NMFS for 3 years in Long Beach, CA, then spent a year with the NMFS in Galveston, TX observing in the Gulf of Mexico. He then switched interests to working in Ornithology work including Marsh Bird Surveys, Eastern Screech Owls in Central Park, and reintroducing Bald Eagles to NYC for which he was the lead Wildlife Technician (in co-op with Fordham Univ.) and appeared on National Geographic Today.  He returned to Fisheries again in 2004 when he started as a Debriefer in the Northeast Observer Program. In 2010, he entered a brand new position - the Technical Integration Support Specialist for the Observer program. He issues and supports several electronic devices such as Tablets, Digital Cameras, and Inreach Units for a cadre of 100+ Observers. Personally, Charles enjoys hiking, fishing, Frisbee golf, kayaking, and bird watching & feeding at his 7 feeders in his yard. He also enjoys Myrmecology (Ants) and is a weekend Xbox player.
