Emily Liljestrand, Ph.D.
Emily earned a BA in Ecology and a BS in Biochemistry from Rice University. She earned her MS in Marine Ecosystems and Estuarine Science from the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science and her PhD in Fisheries and Wildlife from Michigan State University. She started as a Fish Biologist at the Woods Hole Lab of the Northeast Fisheries Science Center in 2023. Her research focuses on the effectiveness of stock assessment and population dynamics models to capture the natural variability and observation noise inherent in these systems. Recently, she’s been looking into how to better model spatial dynamics in New England fisheries stocks.
